The Largo do Ambiente Parking Facility in Luanda is an underground infrastructure with 525 spaces distributed across 2 to 5 levels, resulting in excavations between 8 and 17.4 m deep.
The containment was executed using Cutter Soil Mixing (CSM) technology, creating a continuous curtain of soil-cement panels reinforced with steel profiles, connected by capping beams. Bracing was ensured by reinforced concrete slab bands, later incorporated into the permanent structure, avoiding the use of steel struts or anchors that would be unfeasible in the urban context.
The structural system was complemented with foundation piles and a 0.20 m reinforced concrete lining, ensuring the hydraulic and structural safety of the excavation. This solution preserved the stability of neighboring buildings and streets, further ensured by continuous instrumentation throughout the construction.
